Exist for yourself.

You know, it's really that simple. The funny thing is that it never really seems that simple. I'll be honest, the last few years have been nothing but a roller coaster of emotions, heartache and confusion. I've pulled myself here, there and everywhere. I could point a finger at a person or two, but at the end of the day I can only blame myself for any situation that I put myself in. Just because you know something is wrong or that certain people just need to be let go in your life, doesn't mean that you're ready for it.

Hell, haven't I even made posts about toxicity in the past? It's easy to dish advice to the world, but even easier to put the blinders on when it comes to people in your own life. You want to see the best in others. You want to believe in the good and the words that are spoken. The thing is, when you hold onto the past and things you saw once so very long ago, you start to lose grasp of what's really going on in the present.

I lost my focus because I truly never was focused. Yep, I said it. I had the best intentions to live a healthier life and "bring my sexy back", but I was doing it for all of the wrong reasons and in the end I only left myself resting on the back burner. How can you stick to something and make a REAL lifestyle change if you're focused on anything and everything else? You just can't.

You have to live your life on your own terms. Living for others or for false hopes can only get you so far, if even anywhere at all. You can't do it to impress others, to show someone what they are missing, to keep someone around or to one up the person next to you. That's just a mere example of things that tend to jump start these "healthy lifestyle" goals. And the truth is, at the end of the day those people won't be impressed enough, that person still won't miss you, that someone won't stick around for the right reasons and no one is going to remember that you worked out harder or lost a pound more than the person you were competing with. And whatever had you so worked up, won't matter as much as time passes and that drive will fizzle out.

The only person who will ALWAYS be there guaranteed is yourself. And here I am... ready to do this thing again, but for the right reasons and for myself this time around. Now this doesn't mean I won't have my ups and downs along the way, but every night when I stand in front of the mirror I'm going to remind myself of why I'm here and why I never want to fall back into those bad habits again.

I can do this and if you're in the same boat as myself, you can too.

Today, I Am Thankful

Happy Tuesday guys! I won't lie, I had a small case of the "weekend is gone" blues yesterday. Refusing to let that get me down, I decided to take the time today to think about random things that I am thankful for.

- Water App
iDrated

I'm thankful for this handy dandy app for those days I'm just not with it and am not keeping up with my water intake. No, I don't use this daily but it's awesome for when I really need to pay attention. I definitely recommend it to other iPhone users. For those that don't have iPhones, there are still plenty of other apps out there for you that would work as well!

- Good Friends that Inspire Me

Inspiration is EVERYTHING when you're focused on bettering yourself mentally, physically and spiritually. I want to thank those that stay in contact with me and keep me going by sending good vibes my way. This includes people in my daily life and those I've met in the blogging world. Seriously, you guys REALLY make a difference.

- Awesome Customer Service

Thanks Jay of Sync Active for the fabulous customer service yesterday and for even hanging in there with me during my power outage!

- Eyebrows That Don't Require a Sharpie

Listen, I was feeling adventurous over the weekend and decided to do my own eyebrows. As soon as I started, I realized this probably wasn't the best idea. They aren't perfect, but at least they don't require a sharpie! I think I'll stick to the salon from now on.

- Feeling Pretty Days

Even though I had the "blues" yesterday morning, I felt pretty dang adorable. You have to love days like that!

And no, it wasn't thanks to my brows. haha.

Every day is a chance to make things a little brighter in your life! So get off your butt and make it count! (Hey, I did!)

Question for the Readers : What are you thankful for today? Anything great or small!

Because everyone loves a good penpal!

So there's something I'm pretty thrilled to share with you guys. Months ago, thanks to Heather over at www.kissmybroccoliblog.com, I learned about a program called Foodie Penpals. Once approved, you receive a penpal every month that you will create a special box of goodies for. Your package can include fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. I honestly think this is a great deal and was excited to give it a try because one thing you'll learn about me (if you don't already know) is that I'm a huge fan of being introduced to new and different foods!

Well... my first penpal was the lovely Sheila of Thinking of You Creations. Looking at her facebook page made it very clear that I was going to be in store for some amazing goodies. Unfortunately the ants outside of my home beat me to my package this month! I really wish I had taken the time to photograph the thousands of ants I had to battle to even open my box. I was too busy trying to salvage my goods to worry about such things! THANKFULLY, I had two lovely bags of homemade granola that survived. The variety of cookies sent looked amazing and although I was unable to taste them, I definitely think they are worth looking into!!

The "Cranberries, Walnuts & Coconut" granola is to die for! My daughter even had to try a bit herself. I haven't gotten into the "Dates, Raisins & Almond" granola yet, but I can't wait!

This is such a fun and great program and I can't wait to see what else is to come from it! For more info...

Finding Your Bright Side

Oh Calvin!

Ever find yourself feeling this way? Or know someone in your life who constantly has this "life could be a lot better" attitude? Well, this entry is about just that. Instead of wallowing in the negative, I'm going to ask you to find the bright side of things. Are you ready? If not, you're already not listening! Seriously, guys do better.

You can be the most upstanding citizen around and life will still give you a swift kick in the butt at times. There may be no reason for it. It's just a part of life and it happens. Bad news can also surface based on your own wrong doings. Karma sucks a bit doesn't it? No matter the situation, it can leave you angry, sad, depressed or maybe even a mixture of all of these emotions. This is the time that you take a step back and decide what you're going to do about it.

Now before I get into this, please know that I am speaking from the very bottom of my heart and that I myself have been guilty of this as well. The only difference is that I've TRULY learned from it. My new mindset has been a huge life changer for me and am hoping what I have to say will make at least a slight impact in yours as well.

First off, what are you so angry about? What has you that down and angry at the world? Think about the situation and seriously examine it. What deep down is causing all this pain or frustration in your life? All of these answers are key to finding your "bright side" again.Take off those blinders and answer these questions as openly and honestly as you can. Is your frustration based on an uncontrollable situation? Is it something from a result of your own mistakes? All of these factors matter and need to be addressed.

There is nothing wrong with feelings. No one person should have the right to tell you how or what to feel unless that one person is you. What you choose to do afterwards is what really matters. When you're feeling down in the dumps or angry at well... anything, everything and everyone, that little voice inside is probably telling you to just give in and wallow in those emotions a bit longer. Give yourself a day or if it's really terrible, maybe another. Wallow away and then move on. Seriously, it's that simple. It may not be the easiest thing to do, but what do you gain from any other option? You can choose to stay sad and depressed (because that's always fun) or you can distract yourself from the problem and solve nothing! Yeah, I didn't think those options sounded like winners either.

I'm not saying that your feelings are going to automatically fix themselves, but you can add positive influences into your life to help improve things. The new saying I live by is "Treat yourself well, even when you feel like hell." Your body is your temple and you really should treat it as such. Eat healthy, exercise and keep yourself on a regular sleep routine. Taking care of your body can boost your mood and seriously help clear your mind in ways you probably can't even imagine. Experience these things for yourself and include your friends in some of your activities! Are your friends motivators or do they enjoy wallowing in your suffering as well? Do they hold your hand through a tough time and lend an ear? Or are they lending you their phone to order greasy pizza and beer? (Okay, okay I KNOW you can't order beer and we all love our pizza, but you get what I'm saying) Spread the good and rid yourself of the bad. Unhappy people tend to keep company with other unhappy people because it makes things seem "okay" or makes their life seem "not so bad." Quit with the distractions because your problems won't go away. If anything, they may even make them worse.

If your problem is uncontrollable, focus on what you can control. Are you making terrible decisions and that's why you are where you're at? Own up to it and focus on how you can better yourself. Life happens. People make mistakes. Things happen. Learn to accept it and grow from it. Every situation in life can be a lesson in some way, shape or form. Don't make the mistake of standing still instead of trying it. Finding your bright side is much sweeter than what you're dealing with right now.

Question for the viewers : What are you waiting for? ;)

Tiffany's Blog Love of the Month!

Don't beat me... I know, I know it's been almost a MONTH, but don't worry! You won't be getting rid of me anytime soon. I'm here and ready to share a new feature with you. I love reading health related blogs and have been introduced to some pretty darn awesome people because of them. My favorite part of the day is when I get a chance to play "catch up" with their entries. It's such a fun thing to take a peek into someone else's world and walk away with great info as well. Because I enjoy this so much, I figured I should share the love! So beginning now, I'll begin featuring a blogger that I just can't seem to get enough of!

Christina @ Hungry Meets Healthy

Christina is a fellow South Carolina blogger that captured my attention immediately. She was actually the FIRST person I ever followed in the blogging community! Her thoughts on life, healthy living, and food finds seem to be loved by many. I always look forward to her Friday Five and she inspired my Saturday Seven with it. Her humor matches mine completely and her "GIFs I'm Loving" posts are priceless! Not only do I consider her a comedic genius, but she also touches serious issues at times as well. Her most recent entries tugged at my heartstrings and for my own personal reasons has changed my life for the better. Overall. I just find her to be an amazing individual who inspires those around her and wears her heart on her sleeve. Thank you Christina for sharing a bit of your world with us!

Seriously guys, follow her! Hungry Meets Healthy

Question for my readers : Who are your favorite health-related bloggers? Share them with me and I'll make sure to check them out!
